Comprehensive eye examinations

A comprehensive eye examination consists of assessing the visual status of the patient's eyes, as well as evaluating the internal and external ocular health. This includes testing for glaucoma, cataracts, and retinal abnormalities. We also check pupil reflex, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

A thorough examination involves using the latest in ocular diagnostic technology. Some of the advanced equipment featured are the Visual Field Analyzer, the Automated Vision Refractor, and the Corneal Topographer. All these instruments are made by Zeiss Humphrey.

Although many patients are already wearing contact lenses, they are often not completely satisfied with their current contact lens program. Our contact lens service centers around designing a program to meet the specific needs of both the previous and new contact lens wearer. Whether you need them for sports, work, or just occasionally, we can choose the best lens for you.

Have you been told or thought that you couldn't wear contacts because of dry eyes or too much astigmatism? Well, those days are over. Dr. Gordon Wong has extensive experience fitting difficult cases such as excessive astigmatism, dry eyes, and bifocal contact lenses. That's right, bifocal contact lenses. There are currently dozens of new contact lenses designed for the individual who has needs at multiple distances; up close, intermediate and at a distance.

Focus - Replacing your soft contacts frequently can be a convenient, comfortable choice. Focus soft contacts from CIBA Vision give you comfortable wear in both 1-2 week and monthly disposable options.

Dailies - Daily disposable lenses, which provide the convenience of no lens care and the comfort of new, fresh lenses every day. Eyeglass design to meet your special visual needs

Eyeglasses should be more than just someone filling your eyeglass prescription. At our office, Dr. Gordon Wong and his expert staff of opticians will help you design a pair of eyeglasses that will meet the needs of your lifestyle. Whether they're to help you see the computer or to block out the glare of the sun, we have just the right answer to your problem. We provide our patients rimless glasses, and drill mounted glasses.

Are you bothered by glare, especially at night? Try an anti-glare coating. This is the same coating that is used for camera lenses.

Do your eyeglasses seem too heavy? Try a frame made of titanium. They are lighter, and stronger than ordinary metal frames.

Do your eyeglass lenses look too thick? Try a lens material with a higher index of refraction. That will make the lenses up to 50% thinner and lighter. You can also choose an eyeglass frame that is smaller, thereby using less lens material.

Does your prescription make your eyes look bug-eyed or coke bottle-like? An aspheric lens makes the lenses flatter, thus eliminating the bug-eyed look.

These are just a few examples of how we can help you design a pair of eyeglasses to best meet your needs. Rimless frames and drill-mounted frames are available in a variety of styles for our patients.

On-site finishing lab to fill your eyeglass prescriptions

For your convenience, most of our eyeglass orders are edged right here in the office. This service allows you to get your glasses in 1-2 days after you order them (for single vision). But patient convenience is not the only reason for edging lenses in house. Quality is another reason. We edge the lenses in house so that we can insure that they meet the exact specifications that your needs require.

Why not eyeglasses in about an hour? Well, there are about 60 separate steps in the making of a pair of glasses. If we made them in an hour, that would leave about one minute for each step. Rushing each step could lead to errors. We prefer to make your glasses in a productive, yet unhurried manner. In other words, we promise to take longer than an hour to make your eyeglasses.

San Diego Laser Eye Surgery consultation and management (LASIK, LASEK, PRK, and IntraLASIK)

There are many factors that should be considered before deciding to have laser vision correction. Your eyeglass prescription, your corneal readings, your goals and your expectations all play their role. Having had refractive surgery himself in 1991, Dr. Gordon Wong knows what patients expect from laser surgery. Coupled with their knowledge of the procedure, Drs. Gordon and Wildon Wong can help you determine whether or not you might be a good candidate for laser vision correction.

Although most laser eye surgery is successful, there are some potential side effects of surgery that can result in a less than desirable outcome. A thorough pre-surgery LASIK consultation will help you obtain the best visual results possible.

Once a decision has been made for surgery, Drs. Gordon and Wildon Wong can help you select the appropriate surgeon. As an advocate on your behalf, Drs. Gordon and Wildon Wong will participate in the pre- and post-operative management of your eyes to insure that all goes as smoothly as possible.
