Gordon G. Wong, O.D.
Dr. Gordon Wong began practicing optometry in 1991 and his current areas of emphasis include refractive surgery consultation, surgical co-management, and specialty contact lenses. Dr. Wong’s knowledge and experience in ophthalmic optics has continually helped patients obtain optimal vision.
Born in Hollywood and raised in Huntington Beach, Dr. Gordon Wong did his undergraduate work at the University of California at San Diego, Revelle College. Afterwards, he traveled to Texas to attend the University of Houston College of Optometry where he later served as both the chief resident of the Cornea and Contact Lens Department at the University Eye Institute as well as part-time academic and clinical faculty.
Dr. Gordon Wong is the senior associate at GW Eye Associates Inc - An Optometric Corporation, Inc., a private practice in La Jolla, where he works alongside his brother, Dr. Wildon Wong. Dr. Gordon Wong and his staff are dedicated to the concept of “concierge eye care,” which is the art of providing the highest quality eye care in an unhurried and caring environment.
In addition, Dr. Gordon Wong serves as co-clinical director of NVision Laser Eye Center of La Jolla, where he is responsible for selecting proper candidates for laser eye surgery, developing treatment plans with the surgeon, as well as coordinating the pre- and post-operative care of the San Diego optometric affiliate network.
Dr. Gordon Wong also serves as an expert examiner for the National Board of Examiners in Optometry, and is a clinical preceptor for the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. He is the past-president of the board of directors for the La Jolla Tennis Club.
In his spare time, Dr. Gordon Wong enjoys participating in all sports, but particularly basketball, horseback riding, rock climbing, mountain biking, and snow boarding. Dr. Gordon Wong and his fiancé Joy plan to marry this Spring in Maui.
Wildon C. Wong, O.D.
Dr. Wildon Wong has been with the practice since 2000 and as you might have guessed from the family resemblance, Drs. Gordon and Wildon Wong are brothers. Dr. Wildon Wong began specializing in optometry in 2000 after he completed his training at the University of California at Berkeley. Dr. Wildon Wong also attended Cal Berkeley for his undergraduate coursework studying biology and biophysics.
Dr. Wildon Wong was born in Van Nuys, California, and grew up in Huntington Beach. Dr. Wildon Wong heads our contact lens and edging department. If you are wearing contact lenses for the first time or perhaps have some questions about the different contact lenses on the market, Dr. Wildon Wong is your source of information. He also personally oversees the customized edging of uncut lenses into the patient’s frame.
In his spare time, Dr. Wildon Wong enjoys spending time with his wife Angela. They are expecting their 1st child. He also like playing sports such as golf, mountain biking, rock climbing, basketball, and snow boarding.
Mihir Y. Parikh, M.D.
Dr. Mihir Parikh joined GW Eye Associates Inc - An Optometric Corporation in the summer of 2010 and has been a board certified Ophthalmologist since 2002. His area of expertise is in advanced cataract and refractive eye surgery procedures. He specializes in LASIK and PRK utilizing the Visx Custom Wavefront and Allegretto Wave Eye-Q technologies for the treatment of nearsightedness, farsightedness and presbyopia.
Dr. Parikh was born in Hartford, Connecticut and he grew up in Huntington Beach. He did his undergraduate work at the University of California, Irvine. He received his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School and completed his internship in Internal Medicine at the New York University Medical Center and his ophthalmology residency at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. He has completed fellowships in Anterior Segment and Cornea and Refractive Surgery.
Dr. Parikh also serves as co-medical director of NVision Laser Eye Center of La Jolla, where he is responsible for performing laser eye surgery, developing treatment plans with the staff optometrist, as well as overseeing the pre- and post-operative care of the San Diego optometric affiliate network.
Currently, Dr. Parikh is the official team Ophthalmologist for the San Diego Chargers and the San Diego State Aztecs Athletic Department. In his spare time, Dr. Parikh enjoys spending time with his wife Keerti and two kids and activities such as basketball and hiking. He also volunteers his services with the local Lion’s Club.
Amanda Dexter, O.D.
Dr. Amanda Dexter is the newest addition of to the team of doctors at GW Eye Associates Inc - An Optometric Corporation, joining the practice in the summer of 2011. She received her optometric training at Southern California College of Optometry in Fullerton, California, where she was the class of 2010’s Valedictorian and former President of Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society. While in school, Dr. Dexter trained at two different corneal and refractive surgery centers in Salt Lake City, Utah and Seattle, Washington. She also completed a rotation in primary care and contact lenses at a private ophthalmology practice in Sacramento, California.
After graduation, Dr. Dexter continued her education as a Resident at the VA San Diego Healthcare System in La Jolla where she gained an extensive amount of clinical experience in ocular disease, geriatrics, traumatic brain injury and low vision rehabilitation. Dr. Dexter is also currently a Candidate for Fellowship of the American Academy of Optometry and will be the 2012 Secretary for the San Diego County Optometric Society where she participates in local vision screenings for underprivileged children, and helps organize continuing education seminars for local doctors.
In her spare time, Dr. Dexter enjoys exploring San Diego and the surrounding areas by hiking and mountain biking. She also takes pleasure in snowboarding in the winters and going to the beach in the summers. Dr. Dexter is also an avid sports fan and enjoys watching UCLA athletics and attending Padres baseball games. In addition, she volunteers at Susan G. Komen for the Cure events and participates in local philanthropic walks and runs.
