La Jolla Patients Trust Our Optometrists Dr. Wildon Wong and Dr. Gordon Wong
Dr. Wong was awesome! He is the first optometrist to ever explain my astigmatism to me and also the first to give me a different contact lens for each eye. He also explained to me my options for contact lenses with details about my eye comfort and didn't leave out any information about the difference in cost etc. It's refreshing to have a doctor who seemed to really care. I really recommend going to him to anyone, but especially people who have worse vision or a separate prescription and/or people who like to really weigh their options when it comes to contacts and comfort!

Gordon Wong is bar none the very best eye doctor I have ever had. I have had visual and other various eye challenges throughout my life.
Gordon spends the time and attention with every patient, carefully explaining procedures and conditions. He has state of the art equipment to handle my eye health and checkups with almost every aspect of care, and he provides excellent referrals to other health care professionals for things outside his scope. He is wonderful!
Contacts and Glasses Make the Perfect Pair
Sometimes, you may not be able to use your contact lenses.
From a contagious disease like pink eye to a corneal scratch, your optometrist may advise that you switch to glasses in certain situations.
Fortunately, we have a wide variety of glasses to choose from — and we can add your prescription lenses on site.

Contacts require a bit more maintenance than glasses. Though it may sound simpler to avoid these steps, don't give in to that urge. Otherwise, you may encounter problems like eye infections or pink eye.
When you rely on contact lenses, you should:
Follow Lens Discarding Guidelines
Some contacts can last a few weeks, while others like DAILIES are intended only for a single day's use. Follow the instructions written on the package of your contact lenses to avoid injury or worsening vision.
Wash Your Hands Thoroughly
Before you even think about putting in your contact lenses, you should wash your hands thoroughly. This will prevent you from spreading germs, or even causing an infection.
Inspect Your Lenses Daily
Sometimes, your lenses may have small tears. They may also have hair or other materials stuck to them. Inspect your lenses before you wear them to avoid tiny scratches on your eyes, and discard them if necessary.
Clean Your Contact Lenses
Each day, you should clean your contact lenses using the same saline solution you store them in. You should place them on a clean palm, and carefully massage in drops of the solution for 15-20 seconds.
