Description
The laser eye surgery process begins with an appointment at our La Jolla office, where you’ll first give us some information about yourself. Then, we will analyze your prescription and corneal topography, and evaluate your lifestyle needs, goals, and expectations to determine whether you are a good candidate for laser eye surgery. On the day of surgery you’ll arrive at TLC Laser Eye Center early to take some medications to prepare for the surgery. Then, after speaking to us about the surgery, you’ll be taken into the surgical suite where the procedure itself takes about 15 minutes. Afterward, you’ll be able to see!

Your first visit to our office will be simple. You'll come in and you'll
fill out the patient information sheet, if you haven't done it already on
our website. Then you'll be taken to the pre-test room, where some of the
things that we'll be doing are analyzing your prescription, analyzing your
corneal topography, but also looking into what your lifestyle needs and
your goals are. That's the most important part of determining whether or
not you're a good candidate for laser surgery is to understand and define
what your goals and expectations are.
If we determine that you are a good candidate for laser eye surgery, we
will refer you to TLC in La Jolla to do some more sophisticated testing to
determine whether you are a good candidate for surgery, and what some of
your other surgical options are.
On the day of the surgery, you will arrive a couple of hours before your
surgery time to do some paperwork, as well as take some medicines and give
them time to take effect. Then we will prepare you for surgery, put some
numbing drops into your eyes, explain how the surgery will work, and take
you into surgery. You will be in the surgery room for approximately 15
minutes. After that time, you will be able to see.
